Discover the power of innovation

XP Labs

XP Lab stands for “Experience Lab” and provides a practice-oriented learning environment where students apply innovation and entrepreneurial methods and tools in hands-on settings.

An experiential, interdisciplinary learning environment in which you get the chance to explore innovation and entrepreneurship through hands on methods, real world challenges, and reflective practice. Designed as practice oriented modules, our XP Labs combine methodological depth with creative exploration, teamwork, and exposure to actors from the innovation and start up ecosystem.

For UZH Master's students

Program Goals

After completing the XP Lab Series, students will be able to:

  • Navigate uncertainty and complexity constructively by framing challenges, exploring possibilities and developing informed perspectives across diverse contexts.
  • Develop, test and iterate solutions experimentally by applying human‑centered, feedback‑driven and prototyping‑based approaches.
  • Apply entrepreneurial decision‑making in real‑world contexts by balancing risk, resources, ethical considerations and strategic alternatives under uncertainty.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively in interdisciplinary settings by integrating diverse perspectives and articulating ideas, results and learning outcomes convincingly to different stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset and future‑oriented skills by reflecting on personal strengths, learning from failure and transferring innovation and entrepreneurship competencies across academic, professional and societal contexts.
Three XP Labs

The entry point to the XP Lab Series is XP Lab Kickstart. It is open to Master’s students from all faculties at the University of Zurich, as well as to Bachelor’s students who are close to completing their studies.

As part of the Minor in Innovation & Entrepreneurship, the series includes two advanced experiential modules: XP Lab Innovation and XP Lab Entrepreneurship. Both XP Labs build on foundational competencies and offer hands‑on, practice‑based learning experiences. They are also open to students from other study programs who wish to further develop their innovation, entrepreneurship and future‑oriented skills.
