UZH spin-off successfully closes a financing

Synthara successfully closes a financing round of over USD 11 million. Its product is the result of years of research and development at the Institute of Neuroinformatics at the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich. 

The Swiss company was founded in 2019 as a spin-off of the Institute of Neuroinformatics at the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich and is based on the research of Dr. Manu V. Nair and Dr. Alessandro Aimar. The technology is the result of years of interdisciplinary research and development in the fields of system architecture, neuroscience and neural networks. 

Synthara is a semiconductor AI company that develops processors for the use of artificial intelligence in small, local devices. The funding of over USD 11 million enables Synthara to bring its ComputeRAM™ product for embedded computing applications to market. ComputeRAM™ allows the seamless integration of in-memory computing into existing microcontrollers. Synthara's processor increases the speed and energy efficiency of AI applications on edge devices by a factor of 100. 

The company has also secured substantial funding from Innosuisse and SERI, including a Swiss Accelerator grant of CHF 2.5 million to advance the next generation of edge AI chips. Investors to date include HTGF, DeepIE, Excellis and ZKB. 
Synthara is an officially recognized startup company with protected IP by the University of Zurich.
