UZH Space Hub provides momentum for the space economy

The Space Hub at the University of Zurich recently opened its doors to aerospace start-ups at the Innovation Park in Zurich. The Space Hub combines research, development, business and industry through its various areas of expertise.

The Government Council resolution of 10 April 2024 declares the use of space as one of the three innovation lighthouse projects of the Canton of Zurich. This means that the space industry is becoming increasingly important in the Greater Zurich Area - Switzerland's hotspot for innovation and technology. Thanks to its proximity to the international airport in Kloten, a strong economic environment and world-class research and educational institutions, the region offers the best conditions for the new near-Earth space economy.

The UZH Space Hub plays a key role in the development of the space economy. With its headquarters at the Innovation Park Zurich, it connects research, innovation, business and industry directly with the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida and the American space industry.

UZH Space Hub

The UZH Space Hub, which recently opened in Hall 4 at the Innovation Park Zurich, covers the areas of aerospace. The converted hall is operated by the Space Hub as a multi-user facility: start-ups can rent space from the Space Hub and use flight laboratory and workshop space, a state-of-the-art biolab infrastructure, office, meeting and conference rooms. And they also benefit from the decades of experience of the Oliver Ullrich and Cora Thiel team: the two have carried out numerous ISS missions with ESA and NASA and suborbital sounding rocket missions, and set up the Swiss parabolic flight programme. And they are very well connected with the global space industry.
